Guided by evidence-based standards, the course, facilitated by licensed health professionals, addresses various topics, including the disease process, treatment options, nutrition management, physical activity, medication utilization, blood glucose monitoring, prevention and treatment of acute and chronic complications, goal setting, problem solving, psychosocial adjustment, and preconception care and management during pregnancy if applicable. Classes may be conducted individually or in groups.
