Description
Empowers individuals with diabetes through one-on-one Diabetes Self-Management Education Classes (DSME) and training, providing the necessary knowledge and skills to modify behavior and effectively self-manage the disease and its related conditions. Facilitated by licensed health professionals, the course tailors its approach to the specific needs, goals, and life experiences of each person with diabetes, guided by evidence-based standards. DSME covers a range of topics, including the diabetes disease process, treatment options, nutrition management, physical activity, medication utilization, blood glucose monitoring, prevention and treatment of acute and chronic complications, goal setting, problem solving, psychosocial adjustment, and preconception care and management during pregnancy if applicable.
