Provides a two-day, 12-hour educational/screening program for individuals convicted of various statutes pertaining to operating under the influence, refusal of the breathalyzer, underage drinking, drunk boating, and fatal emergent accident. Based upon screening criteria, individuals may be referred to a substance use treatment agency for further evaluation.
Mandated by the court, the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) educates and evaluates individuals convicted of DUI (Driving Under the Influence), including drunk and drugged drivers and underage drinkers. Offenders face license revocation and possible incarceration for non-compliance. Those convicted of "Driving Under the Influence" must attend a court-mandated 12-hour Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Offenders program, conducted by the Division of Public Health. The program, serving as an alternative to jail, includes drug and alcohol education, evaluation, treatment referral, and monitoring when indicated. IDRC groups are available in both Spanish and English, and specialized services are provided for Army Reserve and National Guard members who served in Afghanistan or Iraq.

All individuals convicted of alcohol or drug-related traffic offenses in New Jersey must fulfill State Intoxicated Driving Program (IDP) and Intoxicated Driver Resource Center (IDRC) requirements. Noncompliance is reported to the courts, with the IDRC recommending driving privilege suspension to IDP, which then notifies the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Compliance reports are sent to the courts and the State IDP, reporting to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
