Provides adult protective services for vulnerable individuals who are victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and/or unsafe living conditions. Reports/complaints are taken and assessed over the phone. If deemed appropriate, an experienced social worker will go to the home and evaluate the situation in person.
Investigates reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults living in the community. Anyone may make a confidential report. When a report is received, APS investigates. If the report is confirmed and the person is willing to accept help, APS will identify and put in place services that can help the vulnerable person.

Resolves and addresses complaints from any source and prioritizes the health, safety, welfare, and civil and human rights of elderly residents in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Also facilitates referrals to other agencies or senior service programs, particularly focusing on issues such as financial exploitation and inappropriate use of restraints. In cases where the office cannot resolve a problem, referrals will be made to an appropriate agency.
