Promoting economic self-sufficiency, the SAIF Program aims to reduce welfare dependency for individuals receiving benefits for over 48 months, impacting 750 people annually. Offering services to those facing barriers to self-sufficiency, the program employs a holistic approach addressing homelessness, recovery, and mental health. It features an Intensive Case Management and outreach component, with referrals from the Essex County Division of Training and Employment. Services include comprehensive assessments, literacy testing, case management, Individual Service Plans, social service coordination, career counseling, and advocacy.
Aims to promote personal responsiblity and self-suffficiency through work. Able-bodied recipients are required to participate in a work related activity.All WFNJ recipients who are participating in an approved work activity are eligible to receive monthly bus passes or daily tickets in order to get to their activity site. Long-term recipients are also provided with intensive case management services to assist clients in becoming more self-sufficent.
