The program prioritizes reaching communities of color and underserved urban and rural populations.

Supports and educates family members or caretakers of adults with serious mental illness. Focuses on enhancing family system strength and stability, with mental health professionals available 24/7.

Provides outreach and case management to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who have difficulty accessing services on their own behalf, are elderly homebound, or those incarcerated whose release from prison/jail is pending and not currently receiving any other case management services.

Advocacy promotes and ensures the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the community. The staff directs efforts toward working with individual consumers, who face difficulties in areas of housing, employment, transportation, remaining independent in the homes, assists with completing applications for immigration, Social Security, and other financial benefit programs. Special services are also offered for underserved minorities who have disabilities.

Empowering families, Regional Family Support Planning Councils facilitate informed decision-making tailored to their needs. These councils allow both family members and individuals with developmental disabilities to serve, aiding the Division of Developmental Disabilities in resource allocation for regional needs. Members receive reimbursement for travel and childcare expenses incurred while serving on the council.

Provides individuals diagnosed with blood cancer support resources and educational information. Resources include: access to information specialists; support groups; caregiver, peer-to-peer, and financial support; a patient community, online chats, and a podcast; nutrition consultations; and clinical trials. Also conducts research on cures.

Offers supportive services, including information and referral for assistive technology devices and services. This includes advocacy services, and legal representation.

Operates as a clearinghouse, advocating for individuals with disabilities and delivering local-level technical assistance along with specialized information and referral services. Provides information about disability services, referrals to disability-specific agencies, advocacy for obtaining disability services, details on assistive devices, ADA issues, and disability-related housing renovations. Offers assistance with applications for NJ Temporary Disability and Social Security, prioritizing individuals mandated to apply by the Division of Social Services. Please note that financial assistance, Medicaid/Medicare services, housing, transportation, or any service unrelated to disability services is not provided by the Hunterdon County Office for the Disabled.

Serves to protect and advocate for the legal and human rights of people with disabilities. For those who are not able to be served in the CAP, PAIMI, or PADD programs.

Acting as a catalyst, the New Jersey Association of Senior Blind brings together blind and sighted individuals to plan and implement programs, enhancing the quality of life for blind seniors in New Jersey and nationwide. The division focuses on promoting vocational, cultural, and social advancement, striving for the equal integration of blind seniors into society. It addresses the unique challenges faced by blind seniors, organizing events like senior possibilities fairs to showcase skills, techniques, and a positive attitude for moving towards independence. Emphasizing the transformative power of turning obstacles into opportunities, the division works to improve the overall conditions and standard of living for blind seniors. Monthly conference calls via phone provide additional support and connection.
