Advocates on behalf of adults with mental illness by offering support, education, and connections to community-based mental health and social services. Key services include mentoring and companionship for socialization, role modeling, and community support; direct advocacy for linking adults with existing mental health, entitlements, housing, medical, legal, physical, self-help, wellness, educational, and recreational services; group services for boarding homes and community-based locations, providing support, education, recreation, socialization, and advocacy; multicultural outreach to underserved populations; and advocacy, support, and training for consumers of mental health services serving as advocates on community-based mental health and community boards, committees, and task forces.
