Youth Leadership Training | New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities

Encourages young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to take an active role in their communities and assert themselves on important issues through the Youth Leadership Project. The program includes 8 two-hour training sessions where participants learn life skills and self-advocacy. Sessions cover topics such as voting, public speaking, leadership, teamwork, government, and more.

Intensive Family Support Services (IFSS) Program | Acenda Integrated Health - Woodbury

Provides support services to the families of the mentally ill through a network of social, community and group gatherings. Supports parents and caregivers of children aged birth through 25 facing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges by advocating for collaboration with agencies such as DCP&P, DDD, and Juvenile Justice. Provides essential services including peer support, education, advocacy, mediation training, and assistance with court appointments and IEPs. Extends resources through the county Family Support Organization, offering information and referrals to mental healthcare practitioners, special education schools, and substance abuse programs.

The NJ Self-Advocacy Project | Arc of New Jersey

provides individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing tools to engage in events, legislative policies, and issues affecting their lives. Collaborates with them to form The New Jersey Statewide Self-Advocacy Network (NJSSAN), fostering positive change personally and socially. Comprising five geographic-based Councils, NJSSAN conducts trainings and leadership seminars, supports over 150 self-advocacy groups, facilitates fundraising and public outreach, presents to community groups and schools, and educates state legislators on disability-related concerns.
