Provides a culturally sensitive environment for senior citizens, the PACO Senior Center provides one-on-one assistance with accessing Medicare, Medicaid, and other public and private benefit programs. Information and referral services are provided by staff on resources such as medical services, transportation, senior services, friendly visiting, educational classes, health promotion, telephone reassurance, meals, recreation, translation and interpretation, emergency food, escort assistance, health screenings, energy assistance and programming.
Provides a variety of programs catering to senior adults, including Friendly Visiting, Geriatric Care Management for assessing and addressing seniors' needs to maintain independence, CAMEO, a kosher nutrition program offering lunch and activities, and Holocaust Survivor Services, offering counseling, homemaking, and other aid to survivors. Provides various in-house services, including information and referral, free blood pressure screening, annual health screenings (including mammograms and prostate screenings with MC Health Dept), health fairs, income tax preparation (with AARP), Medicare counseling (SHIP), access to a Surrogates Court representative, NJ Transit reduced fare ticket books, and Safe Housing grants. The center offers a range of activities, including recreational, social, and educational events and trips, with reservations required for many programs. Special initiatives include "A Friend in Need," offering temporary partial assistance to the frail elderly in times of crisis, and the Friends of the Center Volunteer Group, actively involved in planning fundraising events to support outreach programs. Additionally, there are support groups for diabetes and Parkinson's, with new volunteers welcomed for general office/clerical tasks, luncheon set-ups, reception, and telephone duties.
