Provides the NJ State General Assistance Program to assist Rutherford residents over 18 years of age who have no income and very limited resources. Offers referral to State, County and Local agencies to meet the needs of residents who are stuggling due to illness and hardship.

Assists older adults with emergencies. This includes: lack of heat, electricity, gas, or water; need for medical examinations or medications; transportation; security deposit or small household repairs; and air conditioning units.

Administers the General Assistance (GA) Program, a state financed welfare program for eligible adults or childless couples. This is run by the help and human services department.

Creates a safety net for those families and individuals who exhausted their five-year time limit on welfare (Work First New Jersey [WFNJ]) and do not meet the criteria for an exemption to the time limit.

Provides need-based assistance to active-duty and retired Sailors and Marines, their eligible family members, and survivor. Assistance includes, financial assistance and counseling, Quick Assist Loan (QAL), budget for baby, emergency travel, disaster relief, thrift shop quick assist loans.

Provides people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) with a comprehensive number of core and supportive services including Case Management, Substance Abuse, Prevention/Counseling, Emergency Financial Assistance, Referrals to Mental Health Services, Medical Transportation, Special Family Events, Peer Support Groups, Supportive Housing, and Food Pantry.

Provides various financial assistance and advocacy programs to individuals in need. Services include: access to community services and programs, emergency financial assistance, summer camp scholarships, and refugee reception and placement.

Assists eligible tenants facing eviction by matching them with resource navigators. Navigators assist individuals with social service support, case management, immediate problem-solving intervention, direct financial assistance, and provide access to legal services.

Offers support services and short term emergency assistance for families in times of crisis, when funds/donations are available. Including vouchers for clothing, furniture, emergency needs.

Provides individuals and couples without children who meet criteria and income guidelines temporary cash assistance and support services.

Offers an array of services to survivors and those impacted directly by the Holocaust. Services include assistance in obtaining a Home health aide, monthly meetings at "Cafe Europa", emergency financial assistance (limited based on availability) and counseling services

Offers a Veteran's program set up to provide funds and advocacy when time is of an essence. The goal is to provide these needed services and funds within 24 hours.

Provides financial assistance for residents of Teneack facing a hardship. For aid in shelter related crisis intervention.

Provides access to the General Assistance (GA) program for individuals without dependent children. Assists with emergency food referrals; referrals to community agencies; and applications for programs such as SNAP, NJ Family Care, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and Fare-Free Transportation.

Provides funds to aid individuals with disabilities to assist with overcoming barriers encountered because of the pandemic. Funds can be used for technology, food, essential household supplies, personal care items, housing assistance, transportation assistance, prescriptions, durable medical equipment, personal care attendants, personal protective equipment (PPE).

Assists single mothers and their babies to ensure their success. Volunteers provide perinatal services, mentoring, vocational assistance, financial planning, provisions, and workshops and social events.

Offers financial assistance to county residents who are at risk of homelessness, but are INELIGIBLE for welfare programs. This includes: Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), General Assistance (GA), or Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

Provides a variety of services to residents including assistance with emergency needs, information about programs, and referral to community resources. The agency offers clients help with applying to programs such as: PAAD, Lifeline, Home Energy Assistance and Senior Tax freeze.

Provides short-term case management and support services to families in the service area. Also provides resources and linkages to additional community programs. Some families may be eligible for financial assistance.

Provides a variety of free services to individuals with HIV/AIDS, including HIV case management, individual and group counseling, a weekly dinner/support group, and opioid abuse treatment. Those enrolled in the case management program may access emergency financial assistance for needs such as utility shut-off, lack of food, or lack of medication.
