The lead poisoning prevention team is devoted to educating the community on lead prevention methods and the importance of lead screening. The program coordinates the Passaic/Bergen Regional Lead Poisoning Prevention Coalition, the Hudson Regional Lead Coalition, the Elizabeth Lead Coalition, and the Morris/Sussex/Warren Lead Coalition, which are coalitions that strive to coordinate consumer education and professional abatement efforts to reduce/eliminate lead hazards found within the home.

Assists in making lead-safe repairs and enhancing energy efficiency in residential units built before 1978 in Hudson County, aiming to identify and address lead-based paint hazards through interim controls to safeguard children and pregnant women from elevated blood lead levels. Eligible units comprise owner-occupied and rental one- and two-family residences. Interim controls encompass various measures to temporarily diminish human exposure to lead-based paint hazards, such as specialized cleaning, repairs, maintenance, painting, temporary containment, and ongoing monitoring.
Educates residents about the dangers of lead poisoning, shares information about lead remediation and helps those who believe or may have confirmed lead contamination in their homes. Eligible New Jersey residents can receive cost-free lead testing to determine if lead is present, lead inspection and risk assessment of your home or apartment and remediation of lead-based paint hazards (i.e. painting, cleaning, repairs, etc.).
