HPOG - County College of Morris | Northern New Jersey Health Professions Consortium

Provides funding through the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG) to enable TANF and other low-income individuals to acquire the skills and credentials needed for employment in high-demand healthcare sectors. Selection for training opportunities is through a lottery, and if chosen, funding covers education-related expenses such as tuition, textbooks, medical supplies, uniforms, certification/licensure exams, and job search assistance. HPOG courses include Billing & Coding (CERS), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Dental X-Ray Technician, Certified Drug & Alcohol Counsel, Certified EKG/Telemetry Technician, Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist, Certified EMT, Certified Home Health Aide, Certified Medication Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant/Aide, Pharmacy Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician.

Eligibility

- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.- Must be at least 18 years of age.- No criminal record.- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) participant or low-income.- Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores of 9th grade level or higher in Reading and Math. For the EMT program, scores must be 10th grade level or higher (waived for EMT students already enrolled in the EMT course at Union County College or applicants with proof of college degree).- Must agree to provide consent to have personal data accessed as part of the research study.
