HPOG - Union County College (Plainfield) | Northern New Jersey Health Professions Consortium
Assisting TANF and other low-income individuals, the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG) program offers funding to acquire skills and credentials vital for securing and maintaining employment in high-demand healthcare fields. Eligible participants are chosen through a lottery system for training opportunities. If selected, funding covers expenses like tuition, textbooks, medical supplies, uniforms, certification exams, and job search aid. HPOG courses include Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EKG/Telemetry Technician, Certified EMT, Patient Care Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician.

Eligibility
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.- Must be at least 18 years of age.- No criminal record.- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) participant or low-income.- Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores of 9th grade level or higher in Reading and Math. For the EMT program, scores must be 10th grade level or higher (waived for EMT students already enrolled in the EMT course at Union County College or applicants with proof of college degree).- Must agree to provide consent to have personal data accessed as part of the research study.- Currently enrolled at Union County College or considering taking any of the following related programs: Credit Programs - Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)Continuing Education Prgrams - Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician - Pharmacy Technician - Phlebotomy Technician
