Unmet Needs Program | Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

Provides up to $2,500 in financial aid to recently discharged military service members and their families facing financial hardships due to military-related activities. Assistance may be used for housing, vehicles, utilities, food, child-related expenses, and medical expenses.

Application process

Call or visit the website to apply for services. Individuals may only apply twice, with at least 18 months in between submissions. All grant assistance is directly provided to the creditors, not the applicant.

Eligibility

Active-duty or recently discharged service members or veterans who have been honorably discharged, or discharged within the past 72 months. Financial hardships must be related to military activity.
