Mental Health Services | Bergen County Department of Health Services
Provides information and referral concerning mental health for children and adults. Serves as the administrative arm of the Mental Health Board, which oversees the funding and operation of the public mental health system. Mental Health Law Project provides free legal services to the chronically mentally ill and those who struggle with addictions in civil cases only.

Eligibility
Available to individuals who meet the following criteria:- Must be 18 years of age older- Must be a legal resident of Bergen County- Must meet HUD poverty guidelines and not have the financial ability to retain private counsel- Must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness. Individuals who have a primary diagnosis of developmental disability, organic brain syndrome, or chronic substance abuse are NOT eligible- Must have been engaged in mental health treatment for many years- Must require substantial assistance in social skills, vocational, or educational guidance and community living
