Aims to help families move to self-sufficiency by offering supports which may include: Child care Health insurance Transportation Access to substance abuse and behavioral health services Emergency Assistance.Recipients face a five-year lifetime limit on cash assistance and must become employed or take part in work activities.

Eligibility
Program participants either must be working, actively looking for work, or participating in an approved work activity to be eligible. All participants must also cooperate with any applicable child support requirements.

Oversees and supervises public and private agencies delivering financial aid and support services to individuals and families, including leadership in managing Work First NJ (WFNJ) programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and General Assistance (GA), the NJ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (NJ SNAP), as well as child support and child care services. Administering agencies include County and Municipal Welfare Agencies (CWAs and MWAs), One-Stop Career Centers for WFNJ, CWAs for SNAP, Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs) for child care subsidies, and CWAs, courts, and probation for child support.
