Assists low-income families by providing monthly rent subsidies to their landlord. The landlord has the option of accepting assistance from the program. Every year, the dwelling must be inspected and the family's income verified. Program participants must pay their portion of the rent each month as stated in a lease negotiated with the landlord. Application process

Waiting list may be closed. Please contact your local Public Housing Agency (PHA) for details on the next open application period. Only during these open application periods can residents apply to be on the waiting list. If accepted, applicants may stay on the waiting list for several years before receiving assistance.

Eligibility

There is likely to be a waiting list for this service. Applicants must be New Jersey residents with very low incomes. Income limits are determined by family size.
