Sandy Housing Counseling | Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling

Facilitates residents' application process for Sandy housing programs and grants, providing reconstruction, rehabilitation, and elevation aid to Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) homeowners affected by Superstorm Sandy in the nine most impacted counties. The focus is on assisting LMI homeowners with Limited English Proficiency, owners of manufactured housing units, and non-RREM Program applicants. Additionally, offers short-term rental aid through vouchers for low- and moderate-income households in the nine most affected counties, with assistance lasting up to 24 months and no extensions beyond this period available.

Eligibility

For the Low-to-Moderate Income (LMI) Program: - Homeowner must qualify as low- to moderate-income based on their household adjusted gross annual income at the time they submit an application. Call for income limitations. - Homeowner must have registered with FEMA. - Homeowner must have owned and occupied the damaged home at the time of the storm. - The damaged home must have served as the homeowner's primary residence. - The damaged home must be located in Atlantic County. - The damaged home must have sustained Sandy-related damage of at least $8,000 or had more than one (1) foot of water on the first floor.For the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program: - Tenant must qualify as low- to moderate-income, which means their household gross income must be at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income for their county. The income limits are established by household size. Call for income limitations. - Tenant must legally reside in the United States - Tenant must not be receiving any type of housing subsidy when they apply to the program. - Tenant must meet one of the following criteria: - Previously received rental housing assistance from FEMA and the rental subsidy or rental unit are no longer available - Lived in Atlantic County at the time of Superstorm Sandy; and/or - Will live in Atlantic County
