National Veterans Service Officer | Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

- Assists military service members and veterans in understanding and applying for VA benefits claims.- Offers research and advice to veterans handling their own claims.- Assists in filing original claims and completing required VA forms.- Aids in reopening claims for service-connected disabilities and completes necessary forms.- Follows up on status of filed claims with the VA Regional Office.- Files Notice of Disagreement if a veteran disputes a VA decision.- Reviews statements of the case and helps prepare responses.- Assists in appeals for denied claims, filing appeals with the local VA Regional Office.- Completes various VA forms.- Answers/researches telephone inquiries on medical, death/burial, and other benefits.
