Halfway House | Center for Great Expectations

Provides assistance to homeless pregnant women aged 13 to 40 seeking treatment for alcohol or drug dependencies, homelessness, domestic violence, and emotional issues. The facility offers a six-bed space with 24-hour staff support, substance abuse treatment, counseling, childbirth and parenting education, life skills training, and discharge planning. Women can stay at the facility for the duration of their pregnancy.

Application process

An agency referral is required. The program accepts referrals from the DCP&P, Catholic Charities, IDRC, Parole, and Probation. Self referrals are also accepted.

Eligibility

Open to homeless pregnant women between the ages of 13 and 40 who are in recovery from substance abuse, and pregnant adolescents referred through the DCP&P or the Children's Initiative.
