HPOG - Middlesex County College | Northern New Jersey Health Professions Consortium
Enables TANF and other low-income individuals to acquire the skills needed for employment in high-demand healthcare fields through the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG). Eligible applicants are chosen via lottery for training opportunities. If selected, funding covers expenses such as tuition, textbooks, medical supplies, uniforms, certification exams, and job search aid. HPOG courses include Administrative Medical Assistant, Billing & Coding (CERS), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EKG/Telemetry Technician, Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist, and Pharmacy Technician.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.- Must be at least 18 years of age.- No criminal record.- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) participant or low-income.- Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores of 9th grade level or higher in Reading and Math. Testing is waived for applicants with proof of college degree.- Must agree to provide consent to have personal data accessed as part of the research study.
