HPOG - Sussex County Community College | Northern New Jersey Health Professions Consortium

Empowers TANF and low-income individuals with funding through the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG) to acquire skills for employment in healthcare. Selection via lottery offers access to education support covering tuition, textbooks, supplies, uniforms, exams, and job search aid. HPOG courses include Medical Assistant, Billing & Coding, EMT, Nursing Assistant, and Surgical Tech.

Eligibility

- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.- Must be at least 18 years of age.- No criminal record.- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) participant or low-income.- Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores of 9th grade level or higher in Reading and Math. For the EMT program, scores must be 10th grade level or higher (waived for EMT students already enrolled in the EMT course at Union County College or applicants with proof of college degree).- Must agree to provide consent to have personal data accessed as part of the research study.
