Operates Ocean Academy, a small therapeutic school catering to students with mental and behavioral challenges. Provides psychiatric and therapeutic services and support for students and their families through the clinical team. Develops and implements individual treatment plans to enhance academic functioning while addressing underlying concerns impacting performance. Aims to help each student achieve their full positive potential using a hands-on, intensive, structured, positive approach.Program components comprise:- Delivering education in line with New Jersey core curriculum standards- Implementing the student's IEP- Maintaining small class ratios with a teacher aide in each class- Employing state-certified, highly qualified teachers- Utilizing an effective behavioral management system promoting positive interactions and personal success- Establishing transitional services connecting students to future career-building and higher learning opportunities- Introducing thematic instructional units for skill development through hands-on exploration and activities- Providing 1:1 laptops for each student- Implementing Google Apps for Education- Offering Yoga Therapy by the Kula Kamala Foundation- Providing a Yoga Therapy Room for relaxation- Including a Sensory Room- Organizing academic and cultural trips

Application process

Interested applicant's should call their child's school district and ask for the Child Study Team for a referral. All students are selected for admission based upon a review of records, meeting with the sending school district, parents, family members and most importantly an interview of the student. The selection process is rigorous to ensure that students, families and sending districts agree that Ocean Academy offers the student the best opportunity to be successful based upon their current needs.

Fee

None. Education expenses and round-trip transportation are paid for by the referring school district.

Eligibility

Youth, ages 9 through 21. Younger students will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Must be referred by the student's school district.
